What do you expect from your clients?

In any relationship (personal, business, employment, etc.), expectations are the building block for success. Clearly defining expectations from both sides, us and our clients, is crucial to a healthy relationship. I am putting together a "new client packet" that will outline what I expect from my clients, and at the same time, give space for the clients to express their expectations from me. What do you all expect from your clients?

My number ONE expectation is honesty. But we have to be careful how we convey the message and the timing of it.

If we come right out and be blunt about it, client or prospective client might be offended, as in "What? he thinks I might not be honest?" I use a phrase when I think I need to of "filing a true and accurate return". There are other ways too to convey the message.

That's up there for me as well... These are my top three:

Candid and honest answers to questions, timely response to info requests and questions, listen to my advice (not necessarily act on it, but it's nice if they listen).

        Expectations

I expect honest answers to my questions. I expect them to at the very least keep their receipts and realize that to the extent their records are not complete and in good order their fee will go up and what I can deduct will mltn go down. I expect them to keep appointments or cancel 24 hours in advance barring last minute emergencies. I expect them to keep to payment arrangements they make with me.
