OSTC or OATC membership
Do you have a chapter of OSTC (Oregon Society of Tax Consultants) or OATC (OR Association of Tax Consultants) in your area? In my area there are chapters of both which meet monthly and also sponsor seminars. Check online and you will find where chapters are located if you don't have that information.
I belong to OSTC and pay annual dues of $60 and with that I have 2 hours of free education each month if I choose to attend meetings as well as free and reduced-price seminars. Quality of presentations varies so you have to choose carefully what to attend. (As I am an an employee of HRBlock, I have access to lots of free education online as well as instructor-led classes so am very selective as to which OSTC seminars I attend as I always have tons of CPEs--but some are quite useful.)

Ostc & oatc
Yes I do have both of those. In my area they seem to have the same people speak. I guess I am just bored with them and looking for something new. That's why I expanded to No Ca to try and find new education. I have tried some webinars some good some not so good. Just trying to see what others are doing

Bob Jennings
Try Bob Jennings seminars. They don't have any in CA, but have some in Oregon. He has webinars, live venues and the self-study, which I like, is very good, if that is something of interest for you. Excellent.

Another vote for Jennings which is sponsored by http://www.oaia.net/ in OR for the live seminars.

I've been doing correspondence classes through Washington Institute for Graduate Studies towards my Masters Degree and it counts as CPE's....may be a bit pricey for some, but for me, cost over the term of the degree was about the same as traveling to conferences each year.
After my Masters, I'll work on a Doctorate in Tax all from home. Had to do this as our traveling days dropped to zero when the new baby came.
