You might not like the cyber "boss" looking over your shoulder.

      another email too

Got that email again today too.

I really don't know how you can help these people over the phone. they don't even know what the forms they are looking at are for most of the time.
I really like to see the forms and the people.

I don't like going to the barbershop. I think I'll sign up for a telecut.

I had thought about submitting one to get some extra income since I have lost several bookkeeping clients. But one thing I did not like was "Ability to work overtime as business requires." Not sure I could handle working in business all day and then handle calls at night.

I know someone who was hired by them, and wouldn't mind finding out the details. But since my stress level went to nonexistent since I lost my last wage job, I want to try to make it as totally self employed unless I'm in dire straights. Which, due to a burst of last minute clients pre Oct. 17, I'm not.

Here's how my first call went

I was emailed by their recruiter whom I called back. They offered me $16-18 p/hr for 30 or 40 hours per week (my choice) through 4/20/12. I would need to participate in a 12 day training (all consecutive) beginning either 12/12/11 pr early Jan, 2012 (paid) from 8-5 EST. All of the training is online. They mail you an external hard drive, a desktop phone and a handset, so you need to have an available phone line and a computer. They provide health, dental and 401k from day one through the end of your employment period.

All calls are in bound and they expect you to take at least 2 calls per hour. If a call gets "bogged down" you transfer the customer to the "escalation dept" and move on to another call.

There is also an end of season bonus which I was told is a minimum $6000 and was $8400 last year.

I have another call scheduled to get more specifics and will post what I find out.

                    Who goes to jail

If you are a CPA or EA, I would be concerned about the liability involved. If you try to help someone and it turns out you were incorrect (even if not your fault), it would not surprise me that someone would sue you to collect the taxes caused by your "mis"-advice. The customer or client will claim that you did not tell them something that they needed to know and now the return is under examination and, since the person relied on you, it must be your fault.

Will the Company agree to indemnify you regardless of your advice? What protection do you have?

Is this cause for concern? Don't forget that you cannot screen or qualify the client and they may give you wrong information or not tell you the whole story. In your own practice, you may choose not to serve someone like you could end up advising.
