    Ptin Renewal Info

This is the latest from ClientWhys Practice News & Tips - 7/28/11
the Return Preparer Office (RPO) has officially announced today, June 29, 2011, that the renewal cycle for all PTINs will be a calendar year. So, even if you got your PTIN before the end of 2010, it will not expire until December 31, 2011.
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.

    PTIN ReNewal

What requirements do we need to renew our PTINs this fall for 2012 tax season (Jan 2012/May 2012)? Will the IRS have a form to fill out, private company or are they still sitting on there hands and heads flipping coins?

      PTIN Renewal

NAEA keeps us EAs informed of any recent developments regarding PTIN, EFIN, etc.

This revelation was disclosed a couple of weeks ago - but we haven't been told officially exactly how/when the PTIN renewals will be coming.

It's just another reason to become a member of NAEA. www.naea.org

        Renewal

So, far the announcements have been vague on details but have stated they expect to begin accepting renewals for 2012 by October 2011 and that you can renew online even if you paper-filed last year and that you can paper-file but it will takes weeks longer. (And, as mentioned above, that your current PTIN is good through 31 December 2011 no matter when it was issued.)

I also agree that NAEA is a good investment for us sole proprietors/small businesses to keep us up-to-date.
