Can the refund on a MFJ return be directed into individual bank accounts at different banks? Or do the separate bank accounts have to be jointly held? Using Form 8888.

Can the refund on a MFJ return be directed into individual bank accounts at different banks? Or do the separate bank accounts have to be jointly held? Using Form 8888.

The IRS allows the split as long as one name is on the account/s however, some banks will not honor this if the tranmittal has both names on it. Best to check with bank for their policy.
