Fuji 6130 Sheetfed Scanner (New) for $770?

I received an email from: Intuit Accounting Professionals Division in Plano TX offering this scanner for $770. This is the scanner ProSeries recommends. I went to price grabber and the lowest price was still above $800. This is a new machine. For those of you that have this scanner, does it scan cards like drivers license cards and overall, what is your impression of this scanner?

    6130

I really like it. I have never used it for driver's licenses, but it would probably do it. I like the speed and the stored products in file cabinet.....

      Intuit Scanner snafu

I saw that ad from Intuit and ordered the Fujitsu Pro Tax Scanner 6130 II. I called to order but the messeage while waiting said to order online.

So, I did all the online stuff. Could not get a confirmation of the order. Called them and after being on hold got a confirmation of the order, to arrive within a week.

Two weeks go by. I called to check on the status. They say the order "did not go thorugh" I told them I have the order number etc. They said sorry, the order did not appear on their system. I have to order all over again. I said I would but I want expedited shipping. They patched me through to a sales rep who said no problem, you will get it in three to five days. OK, I said. (another 56 minutes on the phone). Don't forget each time I talk to someone I have to answer all kinds of questions over and over and over.

Today, I get an email that says the order will ship in two weeks. Also they have the address incorrect. It says you cannot change the address at this point. So they will ship it to an incorrect address and I pay for it?

I call again and after they hung up on me I got through to someone and cancelled the order. (28 minutes on the phone). They were even considering cancelling my 2011 Pro Series tax program order. I had to tell them to leave that one alone.

Considering the above, I don't care what the price is. What would happen if it arrived broken? Boy, I would never get it straightened out.

          Scanner

          I ordered direct from Intuit.

They patched me through to Walt Elliott in sales. He seemed to know what he was doing and it seems the Intuit people were the one's that were messing up everything.

The people at Intuit seemed to be outsourced or certainly not accounting type people. They don't try to keep the sale. They don't seem to care.

I'm looking for a scanner, and I'm going to buy from Newegg.com. Good feedback on many sites about their service, and a hassle like that for a few bucks ain't worth my time!

              Scanner and stuff

My question is that if you purchase a piece of equipment from the internet and it needs service or arrives in unworkable condition, is it easy to return or get it fixed locally?

My feeling is that with Intuit you are on your own.

                Newegg

I've had several scanners over the years all of which jammed. This past year I bought the Fujitsu 6130 from Newegg and have been very pleased with the purchase.

The scanner never jams and it comes with Adobe software which is a $200+ product on its own. I would highly recommend this scanner and Newegg was easy to deal with and their price better than anywhere else when I was looking.

                  ttbtaxes, which version of Adobe?

Did your Fuji scanner come with Adobe Acrobat 10 Professional?

As usual, it varies, but it's pretty easy to check online reputations of the major retailers. NewEgg has been around for years, with a good reputation, though I think it's gone down a bit as they've grown. I don't recall the last time I had to return something to an online retailer, but I don't remember ever having trouble.

In many cases, your local brick and mortar store is just shipping it out to the manufacturer's repair center (or a third party repair company). So the question is whether they're more convenient than shipping it yourself (or taking it to the UPS store for packing and shipping).

                      Pack and Ship surcharge

So the idea is that you may pay more for a local store purchase but in the event the item needs service, the store will handle the shipping. Included in that store price is a built in factor for shipping that most folks will never need.

If you buy on the internet and the item works fine, you save money. If the item needs to be shipped somewhere the savings and the time factor comes into play.

                        Intuit Scanner offer

So I cancelled the scanner yesterday. Today I get an email that informs me they are processing my order. Remember, I cancelled this thing yesterday. I call the bank and Intuit has charged my Credit Card today for the scanner I cancelled yesterday.

Now I call Intuit and they were processing two scanners for me!
Again (more time on hold, endless repeated questions). Intuit says I have two accounts with them and they only cancelled one of the orders on one of the accounts.

I tell them I do not want ANY scanners from them and they should not charge my Credit Card for any of these. They say they will try to put a stop on this.

Credit Card Company says they can't do anything about this until I dispute it. I cannot dispute it at this time because the charge is pending and the Credit Card Company does not want to put a stop payment on a pending charge.

How good a deal is their offer???

More or less, though for many items, you'll find that local prices are competitive with internet prices to begin with. There may be exceptions - laptop manufacturers will often foot the shipping bill. If you go with a service plan - which you may want to do for any equipment that's critical to your business - you may even get a replacement shipped to you prior to returning the defective item.

I can't find a brick and mortar store that sells scanners; at least not the Fujitsu ones that are so highly recommended in every scanner thread on every tax message board I'm on!

                              Intuit Snafu

Well let me tell you this. I have cancelled my scanner from Intuit. They will not send a confirmation of the cancellation but I have a cancellation number. They assured me that the order is cancelled (they have already charged my Credit Card, oops).

Yesterday TWO SCANNERS were shipped to ME!!!!!. They were both refused but still Intuit is unresponsive to my pleas to get this corrected.

There is no one there that will follow up on this mess.

If you want two or more scanners that you did not order, use Intuit. By the time you get done trying in vain to get someone with accountability there, you will have used up any price savings and end up paying for multiple scanners and not support.
