lost SS#?

I've acquired a client who had an adopted child in his home. No one else could claim her as a dependent. But she has since moved out and now my client can't find her Social Security number. (it's odd, i know)

How can he/we go about retrieving her SS#? Any ideas?

Do they have any prior year returns when the adopted child was claimed?

depending on the age of the child, ask the child or the current "parent".
