    Mjs-hoh

Their is a message on this board that if you are married and live
apart for at least six months--and maitain a home for a child,
you can file hoh. Is this correct?

Still married and you can file hoh not mfs.

    Thanks

    Depends

Depends on which six months. Every single day from July 1 through December 31 works for being considered unmarried, but there are some other rules. You must pay more than half the housing costs for the entire year, including the time the spouse was in the home. And the child must live in that home for more than half the year, although it doesn't have to be the same months as you were separated. And it can't be just any child, but has to be one who is your qualifying child or a close relative who is a dependent under the qualifying relative rules.
