OOPS forgot to tell you I paid $3000

Should an amended return be filed?

Client forgets to tell you that she paid estimated tax $3000 and the return is filed.
Client calls weeks later to say the IRS gave her $3000 more than what we filed (because she did not mention the est. tax paid).

So should an amended return be filed in order to show the correct figures (without asking for an additional $3000)??

    thanks

      OOPS-forgot to tell

Do not file amended return. Your client received the $3000. plus the overpayment from the return.
The reason to file amended return is if there is an error in the income or expenses.
