When do payments to NC Post?

I have a client who mailed a check to NCDOR on 4/15 and it has not cleared yet. Should she be concerned and if not when should she expect it to clear?

Anything with the word "paper" that goes to the NCDOR has a high chance of rattling around there for quite some time.

I assume your client did enclose a D-400V payment voucher with the check?? And NCDOR also has a different mailing address for "refund" returns as opposed to "due" returns/payments. Using the wrong address could complicate things further. My guess is the refund pile of mail gets handled after the other piles of mail.

Helpful hint: Just use the NCDOR website and make the NC payments online (and you can schedule a "future" date) with a debit from your checking account. I've done that for several clients, and myself, and the debit shows on your bank statement the exact date you authorized it to occur. Of course, you better have the money in the bank on that date........

And in answer to your question: I might be concerned if the check has not cleared within a month.
