    Something nice from client

    For a change - former client (did returns for years until 2009 when self prep) came in with CP2000 - he had not correctly reported 1099B but the IRS says he owed additional $8K when he really only owed $75.00. As I was getting signatures on POA he commented "I wont make that mistake again? I'll let you guys do my return again from now on"!

    Suggestion

    If he didn't bring you his 2010 stuff because he had already self prepared it when he got the notice on 09, get him to bring you everything for 10 including a copy of the return in late April and review it to see if he made any mistakes that you can fix now instead of waiting for the IRS.
