I wish everyday was like today

Man, I could use a day like I had today everyday. New client and his girlfriend came in to pick up their tax returns. In addition, changed Broker Dealer & Rep on his rather large IRA acct to my Broker Dealer with me being Rep plus added to his IRA. Will scan and email me their auto and homeowners declaration pages so I can quote their auto and homeowners insurance.

After they left, another new client came by to pick up his tax return. Always did his own taxes but hired me this year and was impressed. I kind of felt bad for when he first brought in his tax stuff in, he said he was not in a hurry so I was preparing returns for those that were in a hurry. You know those kind of clients. So he writes me a check for a little over $200 and places a $50 bill next to it. I told him not necessary for you paid me a fair amt for my services. The guy is looking for work, his wife works but she does not make that much money and he was a very patient and appreciative client. Can’t say that about all my clients. I never took the $50 still it was a good day.

    Hmmm

I just ran out of toner. No, I did not have any ordered. That would be too easy.
If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

I had one of AZ's days a week or two ago, but now this week it is a different story.

Rita, Yes I received the toner low message on the fax machine, but I did order and have it here, also received the same message on the printer, but ordered that as well.

Had to order a new wireless mouse and keyboard - keyboard had "sticky keys" so I was putting up with that - but then the mouse decided to give me grief and was not working properly - so Staples online Thursday and had delivery today. So I am happier and can maneuver around the screens!

Heck I can't afford time to go drive to pick up one up at Walmart, Target or Best Buy or Staples

      Why now!

One week to go - then I hopefully can re-group and gather my wits about me again.

Don't know about anyone else, but I this year has been a really "challenging" tax Season!

        Has been a great week

for me but this morning I also ran out of toner. Ordered a double pak to get me through the rest of the season and it was on the UPS truck!!! Had to call the driver and sweet talk him into bringing my box early. That will cost me a lunch but well worth ir and the client was impressed that UPS did it for me so overall worth it.

A-Z who do you do your investment and ins. with was thinking of adding something like that but all that I have looked into I was not impressed.

Had a couple of new clients that were very impressed with the return presentation, my explainations and service. Both couples had been DIYers. Makes me feel good; and I have 2008 & 2009 amendments to do for one of them..squeezed out a 2007 in between complex stuff in time for new clients to go on a cruise.

Little bit of service, and client is going on vacation happily looking at more refunds.

            Buyer's Remorse

Toner was $110 at Staples, $120 with sales tax.

            It's $64 at Amazon.com. Sigh.

I have ink up the wazoo, but I forgot about toner. I hate when that happens.

I seem to have gotten a lot accomplished this week. Deposit looks good. Have some ready for pick up.

Several almost finished. A bunch to do.

I think I have figured out what has slowed me down the last 2 seasons. I will have to make some adjustments before next January. I have several bookkeeping clients. One I do monthly(that's my mom). 2 I do quarterly and they are great. Then I have 3 that bring me the whole year's bookkeeping in January or February or March (that one gets an extension). Then they want the tax return done in a week. Sorry Charlie!
So I am trying to do last quarter for 3 clients and the whole year for others. It really slows me down. Then I got a new client this year, an s corp. He had a totally different method of keeping books. I asked for his bank statements and he told me the CPA that had been doing his return never asked for them before. He and his wife are coming in tomorrow. I will have to teach him about proper bookkeeping methods and the difference between cash and accrual.

So either they need to bring me records more often so I don't have so much to do during tax season. OR I will give it all to my soon to be retired employee to do instead of me doing it.

So I am finishing up 2 s corps......little bits to do on both of them. Have to do that this weekend. The other one is on extension. I won't even look at it yet. Oh, yea, my mom's to finish, but she hasn't give me all her info yet.

Several amendments to do too. I figure if I only sleep 4 hours a night, I should be finished by April 18th. Still have appointments coming in too.

But I have full toner cartridges.

                Toner

You can let the S-corps wait; they're already past their 15 March deadline.

I have a new toner for my newer printer for tax returns. Old toner showing white stripes. I shook it and it looks good again. But, how long will it last? My next return is a big one with two states and hundreds of pages. If the white stripes return in the middle of it, I've wasted toner and paper but still have to reprint. If I replace the toner sooner than I have to, I've wasted toner. Decisions, decisions.

I am independent on the insurance side. I have my own agency. On the securities side I am associated with a very small Broker Dealer located in greater Phoenix. Taxman36, where are you located?

Without knowing the specifics, I can't do a direct comparison, but I've been very happy ordering from Costco - good prices, free shipping, and typically within a few days. My only complaint is that they'll pack a single ink jet cartridge in a box large enough for a couple of hardcover books.

My printer broke down on me and used the other computer and printer and also transmitted from there and boy was it a mess.

Came back all wrong and called DRAKE. That said that is a NO NO to transmit from another computer---I know now. Took some time to straighten that problem out.

Got a new printer but toner cost more than printer does. Only 10 more days. Yipeeeeee

                              Yes, the boxes! The boxes!

Staples sends a dang box of paper clips in a refrigerator box. My kids spent three hours flattening out boxes to take to the recycling center the other day.
