trailer used to haul heavy equipment

How long would you depreciate a trailer used to haul heavy equipment?

All I can come up with is 7 year. Is that right?

And I use 7 years, since such trailers last longer then 5.

      Which is right? Either.

And the correct answer for regular MACRS is..

Class 00.27 5 year - trailers and trailer mounted equipment. (page 9-8 in the taxbook)

How long something lasts is irrelevant for tax depreciation, all that matters is the class life set by the IRS. (only loosely connected with the real world.)

Might also be in Class 15.0 - same 5 year life.
