    Military Form 8879

A client whose husband in on active duty in Afghanistan sent him the 8879 to sign and return, but he never received it. She did not get a POA. One in her situation said all you have to do is get an affidavit and send it with the 8453 and you can efile. I did not know anything about this. Does anyone know what this is?

Pub. 17, on page 20, says that if one spouse is in a combat zone, the other spouse can sign the return by attaching a signed statement to that effect. I'm not sure how that translates to electronic filing.

      Gary is correct

plus they don't have to file a tax return now. See page 14-9 in TTB.

She gets a refund so is anxious to file.
