I know this has been talked about alot, but trying to get straight. Husband works, doesn't pay for insurance, wife can be added, but is cheaper to purchase her own. So, is she really eligible to participate in a subsidized insurance plan, when her part isn't subsidized. (really cost more) She didn't purchase insurance for her husband, just herself. She owns her own business, in her name, and insurance in her name. Can I take?

That's how I understand. Husband's is subsidized. Wife can get insurance thru husband's plan, but she would have to pay full price. Husband's employer is not paying any part of wife's insurance, but if she wants she can get insurance through husband's work plan. Seems, like a lot of times, spouses can get insurance with spouse's work, but no help from the employer, just the option of being able to get insurance. I don't see that as a subsidized plan. (Sometimes if spouse is uninsurable thru private methods, it is at least a way to get insurance) I'm just wondering if I'm reading to suit what I want it to say. In our area insurance is offered to employees, paid by the company, and spouses are allowed but have to pay the total premium. I guess there are some companies that will subsidize the spouse, too, if they so desire to be on the policy.
