Clients who come just before leaving for vacation

WHY is it that clients come to us a day or two before they leave for a week or more
for a vacation or a trip? This can present problems if further information or forms
such as a 1099-R, etc. are needed. The last three clients to come in are all leaving
    tomorrow on such trips.

Isn't that why we have extensions?

Send 'em an email, send 'em something via snail mail.....then.....next return!

Because they are inconsiderate nincompoops. I had one that kept doing that to me. Last year I just told him, "Well, have a great time. I'm filing an extension for you, and we'll talk about taxes when you get back. I know you're busy, so I'll leave you alone now and let you get out of here."

Possibly, some think we are magicians, or that we can access all their information, whether they brought it in or not: "Can't you look that up on your computer?"

Yeah, I have a hot button right here with YOUR information...
If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

What you can't find on your computer you can always find in your crystal ball - you know the one that can see past, present, & future. You do have one don't you?

It is inherent in some people who cannot bring themselves to deal with issues until they are up against a deadline, and they are soooooo... proud of themselves that they FINALLY did it and now it is in your lap, and they can relax and go to Tahiti.

Yep spring break for the schools is starting next week. Got several in this week. "Going on vacation next week, spring break ya know, so if you need anything it will have to wait".

I've had more people procastinating this year. Several that never do it. Wonder what is going on. I've contacted one client four times about getting info to finish up his corp and personal return. He says he is going to drop it by but never does. Not going to email again. He will be getting an extension.

A few all I need is one piece of info to finish the return. They never get it to me until the last minute.

Probably fell for all those TV ads about free tax prep being so easy and still trying to get TT to spit it out.

                    Need it now!

I'm getting calls now that they want to pick up their returns this weekend before leaving on vacation. Wish they would've told me about that when they dropped off their materials. Well, they won't be ready yet.
