    The spouse's last name doesn't agree with the SS records. Client is going to call social security and confirm the correct last name. Apparently, it is a hyphenated version from her first marriage.

    QUESTION: Do I have to have the client sign a new 8879?

    I do not think so. I thought it was only if the dollar amount changed. When I change the name it is jusst that and most of the time it is either a newly married or maybe some odd name that shows as two different names on the social card.
