    Lawyer's Fees

    My client was sued by a company whose stock he owned, for posting on a yahoo message board. Is his lawyer fees to defend him deductible as an investment expense?

      What did he say?
      And I would say no, unless it had something to do with preserving his income.

          He didn't say, but I think he and some others on the message board were saying bad things about the stock or the company. I told him it was not a deduction, but I would do some additional investigation. Of course, my additional investigation is the wisdom of all of the posters on this Message Board.
