If T/P insurance covers himself and spouse he can take full amount.

If spouse has own insurance plan it doesn't qualify.

If tax payer can be covered by spouse plan then it is not deductible
Everybody should pay his income tax with a smile. I tried it, but they wanted cash

            Subsidized Premiums

And you know there is never a real staight answer when it comes to taxes. It was reenforced earlier on this board that even if your only income is now from self-employment, you still can not deduct the premiums if you have a subsidized plan through your pre-retirement employer. (An example is a retired federal employee whose health care premiums are still subsidized by OPM (government pays around 60% of cost) who owns his own tax service).
