NOL on 1040 - put the entire nol or just what's used

Do we put the entire NOL from years past combined on the 1040 or just what's being used up in the current year?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
On line 21 you put only the amount that is being used this year.

I put the entire NOL amount on the 1040 and then carry over what is not used. My software figures the carryovers for each year so that the earliest is used up first.
