Client receives W-2 from custodian for his deferred compensation for prior year services that is neither a non-qualified pension plan nor a non-governmental 457 plan. The W-2 reports the amount in boxes 1 and 11, with federal income tax withheld being reported in box 2. Nothing is reported in boxes 3, 4, 5, or 6 for social security or Medicare wages or tax withheld. Does this qualify as eligible income for purposes of being able to contribute to an IRA, for both him and his spouse?
