Can anyone steer me to a good tutorial on how to perform this task. Also, does it work well? Does some of the download data from the bank need to be corrected, tweaked etc.

For what it's worth (I am not using it myself but have installed it for a client). There are two types of downloads and it depends on the banks what is available and if and how much they charge for the "direct download". Most banks do.
There is another way that requires more steps (don't ask me which ones, it's only a faint memory now), which doesn't involve fees from the bank.
Once set up it is an easy process but each transactions needs to be reviewed and depending on what type of transactions you have, probably quite a number of transactions need to be tweaked.
