    Having a Gross Up Paycheck Issue

    Rather than give you my calcs because I can not make it work -- I am only going to give you the amounts and see if anyone would like to give me some answers

    The Amount to be grossed up for Housing/commuting is $ 8,258.45

    Fica is not an issue - as the t/p has already met the maximum amount

    So the percentages to gross up are:

    25.56% Federal Withholding
    7.17% State Withholding
    1.45% Medicare

    For a total of 34.18%

    Gross Amount: ??

    Would someone please give me their answer?

    thanks

    Sandy

    Gross= 12,547.
    Fed = 3,207

    Med = 182

    Net = 8,258

      Since you have the percentages You subtract them from 100. Then divide the net you want by that result.
      100-38.38 (I added in the 4.2%) = 61.62
      $ 8,258.45/61.62=$13402.22

      Or leaving out the 4.2%
      100 - 34.18 = 65.82

      $ 8,258.45/65.82 = 12547.02 as already posted.

        Same Conclusion

        Many thanks to you,
        I came to the same, but the taxpayer thinks there is something "not right"

        so employer, me and you two all came to same conclusion

        So not sure what the Taxpayer is looking at.

        Thanks for your time and confirming
