Are you using a checking account and paying by check -- or a debit card? If a check, could you conceivably write a check on this account for, say, a mortgage payment? (I know it would be a disqualified distribution, but would it go through is my question.)

Not Linda, but I can answer your question - yes, it is no different than a regular checking account with no controls on what bills are paid. It is up to the account holder to keep track of the amount actually spent on qualified medical expenses.

Usually we use a debit card. There is one doctor that won't take a debit card and he has to write them a check and send it to them.
