    Deductible travel expense

Clients wife goes to CA for a couple of months to try to get a small bit part in some movies. While there she has lodging, meals, etc. She did get a bit part, with a couple of
lines in one movie. Still trying to get several more.
In her local area she does stand up comedy, been in various plays etc.
Also had a bit part in a movie that was filmed in the local area.
What if any of these expenses will she be able to deduct? She drove to CA. in her
    car and will drive back.
Your input on this will be appreciated.

Your client's wife sounds like my daughter. I think a lot depends upon how much money she makes in these activitites. You know you also have the hobby versus the profit business motive to consider. That is you also have the Sch C or line 21 on the 1040 to consider. Again is this an occupation or a hobby? How long has the wife been doing this? Have her years been profitable?

I know I am not answering your question. You are competent enough to make this decision.
