    Motorcycle rally for charity, deductible?

I dont know what they exactly call these rally's but client is driving his motorcycle in a charity rally for which my client will be driving from town to town collecting money for a charity. Would these miled driven be considered "Charitible Service Miles"?

    Biker Run

Not trying to discount the bikers, because bike clubs do a surprising amount of charity. Much of it is on the spot and not organized, but I'm aware of considerable money and effort expended.

But this sounds like an ordinary biker run. Going from town to town? Strangers walking up to strange houses in leather jackets looking like David Allan Coe? Spreading love, joy, and peace from town to town? I don't know which sounds more incredible, the portrayal above, or the thought that they could sell this idea.

I was born at night, but not LAST night.....

I believe this is some what organized for its organized by the Knights of Columbus fraternal org. Once again just checking to see if the miles driven by the participates is considerered deductible charitable miles.

Yes. Charitable mileage ... 14 cents per mile (in 2010 and 2011).

I don't believe the standard mileage rate would apply for a motorcycle for business expenses, making me think the standard probably wouldn't apply for charity either. So I would think the expenses would qualify if done through a recognized charitable organization, but they would have to use actual expenses?
