    Alumni Scholarship fund

I am sure this is an easy one for most but I simply don't know.

Are contributions to an Alumni Scholarship fund tax deductible?

    From TTB 4-15

    "Qualified Charitable Organizations
To verify an organization is a charitable organization for tax purposes,
call the IRS at 1-877-829-5500 or see the online version of
    IRS Pub. 78 at www.irs.gov."

    Or go directly to https://www.irs.gov/charities/articl...=96136,00.html

There have been a lot of organizations that have last their tax exempt status for failure to file a 990 (including the postcard).

Thanks, I searched Pub. 78 before posting and noticed that no schools are listed, at least not the ones I checked.

Maybe my conclusion that schools are not listed is wrong?

Aren't public schools considered to be part of government? Can they ever loose their exempt status?

How does the Alumni ***. figure into this picture?

        Alumni

Some Alumni Organizations set up a Tax Exempt foundations to receive Scholarship Funds, might not be under the "school"
Maybe check with the Alumni Organization and ask them to provide their Tax Exempt Status paperwork.
