    EIN Lookup?

A while back I thought I saw a post about looking up an EIN. Does anyone know if you can lookup an EIN number. I havea a client that has 1 more 1099 to send out and he's not getting an answer back when he tries to get their EIN number.

    Thanks

He's just out of luck, then. There is no data base available to public for EIN's.

An EIN is a TIN, and so is a SSN a TIN, and both covered under privacy rules.

      LLC or corporation

If they are a corporation or an LLC, you can usually look up through the business name in the state's records and find EIN.

In Florida for example we can go to sunbiz.org and look up a name and see their address, people who own business, etc.

            yes - get EIN

The search brings up the information on their LLC or Corporation, including EIN.

Seems like all states would have something like that.

All partnerships, LLC's and corporations set up in the state of Florida have to pay an annual fee or as they call it file an annual report. Cost is around $150 each year and if you are late they add $400 to it. You can file the report and pay online....so all that info is available.
