NT / FAFSA / OMG Please hurry on MY return

So, the guy comes in on 2/01 like he is on fire and will absolutely die if HIS return is not ready in time for him to enter the info on the FAFSA by 2/15.

Relax, if I don't get it done, you can enter estimates, I say.

I call him on 2/09 to say "your return is ready." He waits till today to pick it up. Talks to me for one hour about how screwed up the system is cause his kid was only #4 in the class.

I look at him with something unlike empathy: "MY kid was #12. Go fill out your FAFSA."
If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

      Definitely a Flair

Rita you definitely have a flair for your portrayals of real-world tax office situations.

Clients seem to think all we have to do is to work on THEIR stuff and that we have no other people to serve. I think all of us have that problem.

I look forward to reading your Cumberland County Playhouse versions of these characters.

          I needed this

You are all great. I needed a lighter moment this morning and you gave it to me.

          Keep it coming!

            Stupid Question of the Day

Caller: Do you do regular people's returns?

Me: Yes. (Thinking: You take Magnesium supplements, don't you?)

Caller: I don't have all my forms. Can you tell me what you charge?

Yes, I know that was two questions...

              Why

would you think the caller takes Magnesium supplements?

                  because he's 'regular'.

Some of our clients clearly need magnesium supplements, IMHO.

                    I have one

Boy, do I have a client, that today, I would like to give him the whole bottle of magnesium. That would occupy some of his time and then maybe give him a better attitude in life.

I am certainly glad I am not married to him ( forgot to take the trash out or pick up something at the grocery store), and that I am only his Tax Professional, that is a difficult enough job these last few months.
