    Energy Credit for Skylights

    Taxpayer had 2 Energy Star qualified skylights installed last year. Also on invoice are the flashing kits required to install. Is the cost of the flashing kits included in calculating the credit or not?

      two things:

      Just because they are energy star does not mean the skylights qualify. The rules are more stringent than that.
      The rules are not real clear on accessories, but the general consensus seams to be that if the parts would be used for a window that does not qualify and if it does not add to the insulating properties the item is not included in the cost.
