    Well, got to get back to work. Just wanted to share. A long time client told me today that I told him that he didn't have to claim his hobby income if under $5000. He also told me that he didn't have to pay tax on his labor (SE).
    I straightened him out and spent a long time typing up notes in case he tells an auditor the same thing.

    Certain discussions of this type, I try to email a follow up (or send "snail mail") regarding the conversation, along with info. Then that becomes part of my client record documentation.

    I hate taking the time, but somehow everyone is on the same page. I have one client that advised me this year he has all of my email notes and responses back to 2003 and he reminds me constantly, remember the email back in 2003, 2004 on this subject

      Good idea

      That is probably a very good idea.

      I tell people things and I know they walk out of the office and forget everything I have said.

      I did decide that when I send a client an email, I will request a read receipt from them. Then at least I know they have read the email.

        Not necessarily - my email program asks me if I want to send the notice and lets me read it whether sent or not.

        Only in government or politics is a "cut in spending" really an increase. It's just not as much of an increase as they wanted it to be, therefore a "cut".
