    Priest --w-2

Have a priest who received a w-2 from his parish. The only box filled out
is box 1-wages. Everything else is blank. Is the priest subject to se tax
    on these wages.

    Thanks

Yes - unless he has an approved Form 4361.

      Priest's W-2

I suggest that you get the IRS MSSP (Market Segment Specializatin Program) for ministers.

The W-2 income goes on Line 7 as it should.

This amount, plus his housing allowing (or value of it) goes on Schedule SE.

From the amount on Schedule SE he is allowed a deduction for his expenses, prorated between the income taxable W-2 and his non-income taxable housing allowance.

He also gets to deduct this same amount on a 2106, if he itemizes.

Kind of brief explanation, but get the IRS MSSP.

Also, see TaxBooks starting with page 14-4.
