    Energy Improvement Credit

I have a client that insulated his pole barn. Does that qualify for the credit?

    Thanks in advance.

    No!

    It is not a residence.

      Energy Improvements

If you review the 5695 instructions, the residential energy credits are for:
      "non business and residential" .http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f5695.pdf

So deleting the "residential" which I don't think a "pole barn" qualifies for would lead us to the "non business" credit.

Under page 4 of the Specific Instructions Part I - Nonbusiness Energy Property credit, Line 1 states the "qualified energy efficient improvements must have been for your main home" It talks about "component" however that component has to be installed on or in the Main Home.

If the polie barn is not a component on or in the Main Home, then I would say that there is no "Energy Property Credit" See instructions for Line 1 and Line 2--- Line 1 for sure
