    everyone

hates to "lose" a client BUT these things DO happen - having said that - now Don't be tempted to UNDERPRICE yourself when they decide to come back! Also you may want to review your tax return prep pricing (you were able to charge less before because you were doing monthly work also and NOW you will have to increase tax prep fee ?!?!)

      Thank You

      Thank you all for posting.

More than likely it is a relative they hired. Already had it happen once and it did not work out.

I believe I have decided to do the tax returns. But my charge will be about a $1,000 more. I'll see how that goes over. Going to send a letter stating such.

Erch, you are right on. I should have contacted the client more and not relied on the children. Although client did tell me they were running it now. When certain tasks were took over I should have called her.

Taxx, definitely better to have many smaller clients. This was my last "big" client. But still I was putting my all my eggs in one basket. I should have been working on my marketing efforts to attract more smaller accounts.

Luke, more than likely if they come back to me for bookkeeping I will turn them down. This makes the third time it has happened and the last time for me. If I did take them back my fee would be double.... as my tax prep fee will be.

Oh, they have already been calling today wanting help. Unfortunately I am too busy to return their calls.

I had a client once who switched to another CPA, then came back to me, then switched again, and returned again. I would never allow that to happen again. Once they switch, I'm through with them.

Only in baseball is it three steerikes and your OUT!

In my practice, you only go round once.
