Gary2 said the he wears contact lenses, I assume he is wearing them to correct his vision, not to correct his cataracts.

While I am not a doctor, wearing contacts can take its toll on the eye ball. The fact that Gary2 has cataracts at such a young age leaves me suspect of contact lenses.

Laser surgery won't do much for cataracts.....

A couple of years ago I did the cataract thing with a corrective lens implant. I can now legally drive without glasses (for the first time in too many decades) but I do wear glasses to make it to 20/20 when I drive. The doctor always leaves a bit of wiggle room for later changes etc after the lens implant. He waited about six weeks or so for my eye to settle before writing a new prescription. Uncorrected my vision is still around 20/30.

Problem I have now is I hardly ever wear my glasses around the house (except for watching HD TV) and every now and then have a senior moment figuring out where I last left them.

But as they say, growing old is better than the alternative.

My favorite lines from "It's a Wonderful Life":

Man on Porch: “Why don't you kiss her instead of talking her to death?"
George Bailey: “You want me to kiss her, huh?"
Man on Porch: “Ah, youth is wasted on the wrong people."

    hilarious

you are all hilarious!!!!! I love it.

I get the feeling that a lot on this board are reaching "That" age.

I went yesterday to get a new prescription for my glasses. Can't tell 6's from 8's on some of these forms any more. Only got one good eye.....got to keep it focused.

I think I am going to replace my light fixture in my office so that it is over my desk directly. Maybe that will help me see better.

Why can't we have the physical benefits of youth at the same time we have the smarts from being older!!!!

You're a hoot! And, today is one of those days.

I have noticed a marked blindness and/or shortening of the arms over the past six months. I looked it up, and it's called "Presbyopia, and it is characterized by the inability to focus on objects that are closer than an arm’s distance away."

I am deeply offended by Presbyopia.

Anyhow, the other day my smart @$$ friend Greg in choir asked me if I wanted him to hold my book six feet away so I could see it. After he climbed out of the baptistry, he said he would never try to help me again.

Also, if you do want to try more modern fluorescent technology, Ott Lite makes high quality lighting products but they are quite expensive. Most reviews are fairly positive, but I think all fluorescent products seem a bit iffy with regard to their stated life.

Holding the form up to my face as I tipped my eyeglasses back felt very aging to my image- haha. Now I have a little clear ruler with a magnifying bar in it, so I can cheat and seem to be "carefully analyzing" the document with my ruler.
