    E-file begins when

Has IRS announced when they will begin receiving E-filed returns this year? Is it the 18th??

I believe Start date for Efile

Snags, Not official from the IRS website, however, I believe the efile for 2010 returns commences on Jan 14th, 2011. Of course these would be W-2 only filings and no return that contains the delayed forms approval, such as "A" etc. Not sure exactly yet what they other delays will be. Maybe someone else can post that info, I do a very small amount of W-2 only forms - most all of mine have Schedule A's and more.

So for me, I will not be e-filing many returns priror to the IRS release date of mid-Feb to late Feb 2011.

Check with your Efile Service Provider and they should have the most current update on processing. Aren't you on Drake - there should be an alert.

I haven't received anything from IRS saying what the starting date is but they did say that itemized returns could not be efiled before mid Feb
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.

          Ir 2011-1

          From IRS Newswire
The IRS will announce a specific date in the near future when it can start processing tax returns impacted by the recent tax law changes. In the interim, taxpayers affected by these tax law changes can start working on their tax returns, but they should not submit their returns until IRS systems are ready to process the new tax law changes. Additional information will be available at www.IRS.gov.
Except for those facing a delay, the IRS will begin accepting e-file and Free File returns on Jan. 14. Additional details about e-file and Free File will be announced later this month.
