    Fees for Redoing Returns

I am talking about a client who refuses efiling. Has you to do her return and then calls back in a couple of days and states that she forgot several things or had gotten wrong information from husband about the basis of property sold.
I charged about 25% of the original price. What do you charge?

had the original been mailed in?

if so, then an ammended return starts at $100, plus any time if any bookkeeping, etc.

if not efiled (mailed in this case), charge for the additional forms, plus a little extra for the headache

    remember, your time is money!

      Probably nothing

Probably nothing if it hasn't been filed. $50 for an amended plus normal fees for any added forms. Double fees for prior years.

        It depends.

If I have printed everything out and have already made up the client copies, then I would charge a Re-Do fee of at least $10 for time and paper.

Even that depends though, if it's a really good client, I might not charge anything.

Maybe with this particular lady, you should always give her a few extra days, just in case. If she complains that you aren't getting it done quick enough, explain to her that you are just trying to save her some money by not haveing to re-do the return.
