A couple’s rebate credit as calculated on their 2007 return was $1200 (because they paid taxes in 2007) but they didn’t file on time so they will claim the rebate on their 2008 return. On their 2008 return the recovery rebate credit is $600 (because their income was lower in 2008 and didn’t pay taxes as a result). Does this mean they will loose$600 because they didn’t file 2007 on time?
