I have used UltraMon ever since I started using duel monitors which is awhile. The newest version has support for Windows 7. I've never had a problem. Use it on Windows Vista. It has the taskbar all the way across both monitors. You may have to select this option though.

Multiple Monitors
I run Win 7 with Dual monitors. By default - You only get a taskbar on the 1st monitor.
Yes, I'm sure you can run 3rd party software to see a task bar, but WHY?? What is the significance of having two taskbars?Matthew Jones

For me, the advantage is huge. First, it feels more natural - it feels like I have two separate, independent computers. I can work entirely on one monitor without 'touching' the second monitor. Second, if I have only one task bar, I would need to move my mouse back and forth between monitors whenever I want to switch applications. It's worse when I have many applications running as I would then need to sift through to find the right one.
I guess this is all a matter of habit and preference. But I can't live without dual monitors or this software.

I'm just the opposite. I like having my taskbar on the monitor to my left and the icons on the monitor to my right. Navigation is easy and I always know where to look for anything I need. I don't see the cursor as "jumping" from one monitor the the other - it just glides across the empty space back & forth between the two monitors. Also, there are many times when a window opens in an unexpected place (such as a "print" window or a "save as" window), so there's some degree of training one's mind to expect slightly different performance characteristics with multiple monitors anyhow. I got it to semi work or maybe fully working...
I downloaded Ultramon and Multimon. Via email I was communicating with the Ultramon tech guy and so the final results are I can drag a window from my laptop screen to monitor #2 but the task bar does NOT have the starte menu on monitor 2. The Ultramon tech guy in an email said Ultramon does not YET have the start menu what ever that means. Is that correct current Ultramon users? Anyway for me who is slowly going paperless, today I had a W-2 on my monitor 2 while I took info from that W-2 and entered into the tax return via my laptop monitor. Now I need more monitors so I believe I will purchase another monitor. How I managed all these yrs with 1 monitor is beside me.Comment

Adding a 3rd montior, KVM switch, VGA hub do you use?
My laptop only has 1 VGA output so the tech guy at Staples says I am going to need a KVM switch to add additional monitors. Anyone using a laptop with more then 2 monitors and if so what brand and model KVM switch are you using?Comment
