    NT / EFTPS password

Just received internet password for a client by the automated phone deal.

Three of the characters: "Lower case 'o' as in 'Oscar', lower case 'f' as in 'foxtrot', upper case 'W' as in 'whiskey'."

Really? Are these words really the best choices for an automated message from IRS? Were all the other words busy? Is "Oscar" ever spelled with a lower case "o"?

    Foxtrot???

I listened to it three times, laughing louder each time.
If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

These are standard words for making sure letters that are spoken are interpreted correctly. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICAO_spelling_alphabet . Personally I prefer the older, US military version, also given on that page, but it's fallen out of favor. (And not because I was in the military. One of my first college part-time jobs was with a woman with a military background, who used that version for reading out hexadecimal numbers.)

        Aha

Well, I remember hearing it on Dragnet, but had no idea there was an actual table! I have grinned everytime I thought of "foxtrot" today.

BTW, I frequently think about saying "Just the facts, Ma'am" during tax season.

I remember the OLD set. I remember talking to a tech support from India, and they had some strange words, the one I remember that sounded strange, is Meter for M.

If they are using papa for P, why aren't they using MaMa for M. And kids today do not even know what a foxtrot is. This is a very strange list,
