    1040 NR Question

Taxpayer was a US Resident Alien. In late 2008 he became a NR Alien. The tax treaty iwth his country gives him no break on US taxes other than he does not have to pay at the 30% rate. Taxpayer has $20,000 of US Corporate dividends in 2009. He is required to file and pay tax on these dividends on a Form 1040-NR. He has $15,000 of fees paid to his money manager in 2009. It appears he can't deduct these. If any one disagrees please educate me.
Also, he had a small amount of stock sales with a $1,000 profit. I believe these are not taxable. Do you agree?

It looks to me as though you've got it right!

It doesn't seem quite fair, but, then, there's nothing that says the tax laws have to be fair.
