Retained same PTIN
I was a little worried that I would be issued another PTIN thus the reason I applied today but I was issued the same one. During the app process I was a little concerned since it rejected my CAF but I recall someone on this board telling me the IRS was having trouble with the CAF but the EFIN took so I was feeling pretty confident that I going to be issued the same PTIN. I still dont know why the app did not ask for my current PTIN thus match it up with me.
So now what. If we dont pay our PTIN renewal fee by 9/28/2011, what happens or are we allowed to pay before 12/31/2011?
Would be nice if the IRS would mail us a nice certificate....ha ha ha : )

Same number
I kept my original P000040xx number, much to my pleasure.
Once you successfully complete the process, the Main Menu should then show under the Your PTIN category on the right side something akin to "Tax Preparer #P000040xx"
That is an active link and clicking on that will take you to your PTIN account information, where you can apparently manage/update the information for that account.
