    California State Return

I have a client that got married in November to a lady in California. Tthey are filing a joint federal return, but she needs to file a California return alone because he is a resident of Florida.

How do I do this? I went into my state program but I don't see an option to file differently on the state than the federal.

    Thanks Linda F

    California law

California law requires her to use the same filing status as on the federal return. For a joint return, use Form 540-NR. This will identify the non-California income.
