I have downloaded a copy of this document but am uncertain if the entire bill has been signed by the President? I had thought that the date on the bill, which is May 28th, 2010 was the date the bill had been passed; but apparently only parts have been passed thus far. I went to
http://thomas.loc.gov in an attempt to locate the status of the bill but got no where in this attempt. Can anybody clarify the status on the bill? Thanks.

If you are alluding to the tax extenders among other items, it is now called The Job Creation and Tax Act introduced in the Senate by Baucus a few days ago.

I THINK the May 28 date was a passage of a House Amendment to a Senate amendment but ...?????? Sometimes bills can linked to other legislation.

According to Thomas (the link), there were eventually seven versions of this bill, originally introduced in 2009 by none other than Charlie Rangel. Bill has now morphed into some kind of unemployment extension and was a ping-pong back and forth in the congress. Eventually became the Unemployment extension Obama wanted a couple months ago.

One more good reason for not getting too much involved in tax legislation before it actually becomes law.

Basically, they couldn't get it out of the Senate intact so they stripped it down and the main thrust of it was extension of unemployment benefits. Everything else got removed to get that part passed.
