Parents would like to form a booster club for school. Must they file article of incorporations/ organization and the 1023 to be recoginzed as an exempt organization.

Is there any simplier way? No funds at this time to hire a lawyer to draw up these papers

Preparing Articles of Incorporation, filing it with the state, getting an EI #, then applying for exempt status on 1023 is the only legitimate way I know of forming a tax exempt entity.

Yes - you CAN do it from a do-it-yourself kit from commercial places like Blumberg.com,
and others - but wouldn't you rather have it done right by a person who is trained to set up right the first time?
