    Domestic Partners

I have several clients who have domestic partners. In each "relationship" one partner is the income provider and the other stays at home.

Is their any deduction/exemption left that can be claimed federally for these relationships? I'm sure I used dependent in the past but they don't fit the relationship groups any more. I feel like I'm missing something here.

    Do not be confused

Do not be confused by the new term "qualifying relative." It does not necessarily mean a blood relative. Except for children who meet the new rules for qualifying child, the rules for a dependent exemption are totally unchanged. They are exactly what they were previously. Except for the name.
