    Oh, I forgot the original topic

    I am also having the problem of no Certificate of Occupancy in our county. Explained this and attached Mount Papermore of other evidence to original return, and again in response to their letter telling me to read the directions to Form 5405 if it's a newly constructed home.

    Uh, I did read the directions. And, it obviously IS a newly constructed home as divulged in Mount Papermore.

    So much for grinding my ax. I am glad to know, however, that my county is not the only one that doesn't issue the infamous Certificate of Occupancy.

    Thanks for the thread, BB - lots of good info and commiseration. Two of my favorite things.
    If you loan someone $20 and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

      How 'bout sending them pictures of the house with the address on the mailbox and your grinning client with the family dog?

      PS: I just contacted one FTHB client who filed in March (paper return - not 1040X) for a 2009 purchase and he said he got his check about a month ago.
