    Wrong Ss#

I filed a return using the wrong ss#(ex spouse). The return was signed mailed a refund check came in the name of spouse. Should I ammend return and show 0' s along with check or just send a letter to IRS along with cancelled check.

I have refiled for my client, just need to know what I to do with check and the fact that a return has been filed for another who did not need to file this year.

Well, you need to clarify -- do you have the uncashed check, or has it been cashed? If so, by whom? You mentioned "cancelled check" -- so I am confused.

Ok, on re-read I am assuming you mean "voided" check. Since you said you have already refiled for your client, do not do an amended return showing "0"s for the incorrect SSN. Return all to IRS with a letter.
