Amended 1040X 3 Year Rule

Am I correct? In order to amend a 2007 1040, 1040X must be filed by April 15,2010 (Assuming 2007 return filed April 15, 2007)

Nope. 2007 return would have been filed Apr 15, 2008 (not counting any extension period). So you'd have until Apr 15, 2011 to amend a 2007 return.

John H is correct it is from date of filing.

for 2007 file date was 4/15/08 or 10/15/08 if valid extension, 3 years to 4/15/11 or 10/15/11.

I assume you ask because of a refund. Otherwise there is no filing deadline to amend a tax return.
