Mortgage interest and the single taxpayer

I read a couple of articles today about doing away with the MI deduction, and I heard it is gaining steam. I do not like this idea.

The single person already gets beat over the head with taxes, and by taking away this deduction, it will hurt even more. A single person can have a W-2 with wages of $40,000, and can afford to pay $5000 in MI and $1000 in real estate taxes. That little bit enables the taxpayer to itemize and to legally reduce the already high taxes owed as a single person.

Instead of punishing a single person even more, at least leave the MI deduction.
If I'm wrong, please correct me, because I don't have the tax knowledge y'all have. Cheers!

We have so much to deal with. Other than keeping track of what is happening with tax proposals I don't concern myself until they become law. Nothing I can do about it except explain to the client what happened.
Whenever clients ask about proposals I tell them, "if you don't like it talk to your congressmen" Keep it to yourself and it will become law because no one is fighting it,.
Believe nothing you have not personally researched and verified.
